Forum for the Empowerment of Women’s [FEW] soccer team, Chosen FEW, recently hosted the Peg Grey Lesbian Women Soccer Tournament in memory of the late Peg Grey on the 29th of August at the Atrec Centre in Alexandra (East Bank).
In 2006, following the Chicago Gay Games, Peg Grey identified the Chosen FEW team as the most deserving team to receive funding to advance women soccer in South Africa, Johannesburg. The highly honored Peg Grey was well known for her passion for sports and involvement in the pioneering of the LGBT community of Chicago. Her involvement in sports also led her to become the first female co-chair of the Federation of Gay Games (FGG). |

The time has come again for all the luscious lesbians, gorgeous gays, beautiful bisexuals and terrific trans men and women to come out and bloom. Spring is here, summer is here and hibernating time is over.
Forum for the Empowerment of Women [FEW] invites all men and women, black, white, yellow, green to come and celebrate our identities, our sexualities and our heritage together in style. This year we have extended Soweto Pride to a four day celebration starting on the 24th September 2009 (heritage day) ‘til the 27th September 2009.

Convicted killer of lesbian soccer player ‘lies’ on the stand
29 July 2009 - At least 250 activists from the Gauteng and Mpumalanga Provinces gathered in Delmas Circuit Court for the trial of the three additionally accused for robbery with aggravating circumstances, rape and murder of former Banyana Banyana lesbian soccer player Eudy Simelane in April 2008. Before Judge R. Mokgoatlheng, K. Magagula, J. Mahlangu and T. Mvubu all pleaded not guilty to the three charges and an additional one of attempted robbery and assault of Tsepo Pitshe on the said night. Pitshe was initially arrested and later discharged for the same charges and is now in the list of State witnesses.

24 July 2009: Trial to the murder of Eudy Simelane is resuming at Delmas Circuit Court on 29 – 31 July 2009. This time only three of the four accused, who pleaded not guilty, will appear in court as one of the accused who pleaded guilty is already serving a 31 years sentence.
